The third and final i-Ready Diagnostic Assessment will take place this upcoming week. Students are encouraged to try their hardest to show off all of the great learning they have accomplished so far this year. Data received from the April diagnostic will allow teachers to identify and set goals for the remainder of the school year for their students.
As a reminder, students in grades 3-5 will need working headphones for the upcoming NJSLA Assessment in May. Please check that your child has headphones at school.
Parents are invited to attend a parent workshop titled “Growth Mindset and the Power of Learning Through Struggle,” which will be held on April 9th at 7:15 PM in the Washington School MPR.
Parents of 5th-grade students, the deadline for the Fairview Lakes overnight trip in the fall has been extended until April 15th. Forms and payment may be dropped off in the red box in the Coolidge School main office.
RESPONSIVE CLASSROOM C.A.R.E.S. COMPETENCIES
At the heart of the Responsive Classroom approach lies a core belief: To be successful in and out of school, students need to learn a set of social and emotional competencies — cooperation, assertiveness, responsibility, empathy, and self-control—and a set of academic competencies — academic mindset, perseverance, learning strategies, and academic behaviors.
This year, we have emphasized these competencies and further prioritized them with our students. These C.A.R.E.S. competencies align with the Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning (CASEL) core competencies.
So far, we have focused on cooperation and self-control. During April, we will pay special attention to the social-emotional competency of responsibility. Our Words of Wisdom this week will focus on responsibility to initiate classroom conversations. We encourage families to continue this conversation with their children at home this month.
C-Cooperation
A-Assertiveness
R-Responsibility (April)
E- Empathy
S-Self-Control
