Prayers for Uvalde, Track Team Awards and More

Schools will be closed Monday, May 30, 2022, for Memorial Day. The Wyckoff School District (WSD) remembers and honors all those who fought and died for our freedom, and for those who have served or currently serve in our armed forces. The township will hold their annual Memorial Day parade on Wyckoff Avenue at 11:30 a.m. Monday.
Prayers for Uvalde, TX
Our hearts and prayers go out to the entire Uvalde, Texas community in the wake of the tragic loss suffered this week at Robb Elementary School. In the aftermath of Tuesday’s events, our teachers and staff focused on keeping our students safe, providing routines and normalcy, and addressing any student needs that arose. Our counselors are available to talk with students or their families as needed.
WSD Celebrates the Life of Mrs. Rubenacker
Yesterday, a memorial event was held at Washington School to celebrate the life and contributions of Mrs. Paula Rubenacker, beloved WSD counselor and social worker who passed away in November. The memorial celebration was held outside at Washington School, where Principal Blake and the entire school welcomed Mrs. Rubenacker’s family and friends. The Student Council shared words of remembrance and inspiration, and the student chorus sang “Put a Little Love in Your Hearts” to honor her legacy of love and kindness. A peace pole, provided by the PTO, was erected in Mrs. Rubenacker’s name in front of the school.
Military Appreciation Month
May is Military Appreciation Month. Last week, Coolidge School welcomed and recognized Staff Sergeant Pennino, husband of Coolidge teacher Mrs. Pennino, and thanked him for his service. WSD appreciates our military!
EMS Track Team Takes Home Medals
Congratulations to the Eisenhower Middle School (EMS) track team who finished out their season with numerous medals awarded at this week’s Championship Meet. Well done to all track athletes who participated this season. To see the list of student medals awarded at the meet, visit the EMS website.
Family Field Day Next Week
The Connected Parents Series continues with Family Field Day. All WSD elementary students and their families are invited to Coolidge School on Thursday, June 2 for a night of family fitness fun.
