May 2025 Message from Dr. Postma

Dear Wyckoff Families,

As we move into the final stretch of the school year, there is much to celebrate and look forward to across our district. This month, we proudly recognize National Principal Appreciation Day, Teacher Appreciation Week, School Nurse Appreciation Day, and School Lunch Hero Day — an opportunity to thank the many dedicated professionals who support and inspire our students every day.

🎓 Principal Retirements

Principals Mr. Blake and Mr. Raimo will be retiring effective August 1, following many years of leadership, dedication, and service to our students and community. They, along with all district retirees, will be formally honored at the June 2 Board of Education meeting.

✏️ NJSLA Testing

A reminder that the New Jersey Student Learning Assessments (NJSLA) for students in grades 3–8 will take place from May 5 to May 30. Attendance during this period is important to ensure students have the best opportunity to demonstrate their learning. Please refer to the communication from our Assistant Superintendent for detailed testing schedules and additional information.

🌍 Celebrating Student Achievement

Congratulations to Adam Carbone from Eisenhower Middle School, who has qualified for both the national and international levels following an outstanding performance at the regional Geography Bee. Earlier this year, two other EMS students also qualified for the National Geography Bee — a remarkable accomplishment for all three students. The national competition takes place this month in Orlando. Special thanks to Mrs. McMillan for her leadership in making these opportunities possible for our students.

📅 Special Education Parent Group (SEPAG)

The next district Special Education Parent Advisory Group (SEPAG) Meeting is scheduled for May 15 at 9:00 am in our Special Services Conference Room at Sicomac School. This meeting will be focused on the end-of-year transition and IEP process for special education students. Additionally, the Grade 5 Special Education Transition Meeting is being held at Eisenhower MIddle School in the Media Center on May 21 from 9:00-10:00. This meeting is for parents and guardians of classified fifth-grade students who are transitioning to EMS in the fall of 2025 and will be facilitated by representatives of the Child Study Team. The meeting will focus on information that will assist parents in supporting their children with the transition process.

☀️ Wyckoff Summer Academies Enrollment Still Open

There is still time to register for Camp Invention and select Wyckoff Summer Academies classes. These hands-on, engaging programs are open to students entering Grades 1–7 and run from June 30 through July 25. Don’t miss out on a summer of creativity, exploration, and fun! Visit www.wyckoffps.org/page/summer-academies to learn more and sign up.

As always, thank you for your partnership and support. Let’s work together to make these final weeks of the school year successful and memorable for all our students.

Sincerely,

Dr. Postma
