April 2024 Message from Dr. Postma, Superintendent

April 8

School Board Meeting

April 14 - 18

Schools Closed

Dear Wyckoff School District Families,

Happy spring! We have several great updates of happenings and achievements in our schools. Enjoy the news bits below, and be sure to check out the feed on our app “Wyckoff School District” for more.  Also, April includes National Assistant Principals' Week, Paraprofessionals' Day, and School Librarians' Day. We appreciate each of the staff members in these roles here at WSD. We couldn't do all we do for our students without them.

Solar Eclipse April 8, 2024

On Monday, April 8th, a solar eclipse will occur throughout the United States, including here in New Jersey, providing a unique learning opportunity for our students. Though we will not hold a formal viewing event, our schools will provide solar eclipse viewing glasses to all students and staff members. Your child’s school principal will provide more information. To learn more about solar eclipses, visit nsf.gov

Summer Academies Class Selection Now Open

Class selection for the Wyckoff Summer Academies is now open. This fee-based program is open to all Wyckoff, Franklin Lakes, and Oakland students entering Grades K - 7. Classes run on weekday mornings in July. Visit the Summer Academies page on our website to register and create your child’s schedule. Sign-ups for volunteering (Grades 8 and up) close May 1. Questions? Reach out to Kristin Stern at summer@wyckoffschools.org.

Recognition and Awards

Congratulations to EMS’s Model UN team for taking home several awards at their recent competition, under the direction of their teachers Ms. McMillan, Ms. Moolji, and Ms. Harrichand. Student winners Yugm, Kevin, and Connor will be recognized by the school board on Monday, April 8.

Congratulations to Dr. Beth Lancelotti, a school psychologist on our staff, on the recent publication of her children’s book Scary Sam The Don’t Monster: A book to help children deal with anxiety, fear, and worry.

Bravo to our student musicians and their teachers who have begun their spring concerts and musicals. Bravo! (Pictured above: Lincoln School Gr. 3-4 Chorus. Photo Credit: Eileen Russell)
