Dear Washington Wizards,

April brings a fresh opportunity to grow with our next Ignite the Spark: A New Beginning challenge! This month, we’re focusing on Spark Growth by encouraging students to learn something new—whether it’s picking up a new language, trying out coding, or mastering a fun cooking technique. It’s all about stepping outside of comfort zones and discovering new interests along the way. Growth doesn’t happen overnight, but every small step builds confidence and curiosity. We can’t wait to see the new skills and passions that begin to bloom this month!

Shout-Outs & Spotlights

GOOOOOAL - A special thank you to Mr. Bresa, Mr. Connolly, Mr. Docktor and Mr. Setitkas for putting together our brand new soccer goal. Thank you to our amazing PTO for the generous donation, it has already been used by so many of our students!

Reminders for Families

Fourth graders at Washington School had a blast learning a body percussion and basketball routine set to “The Greatest Show” from The Greatest Showman. This exciting collaboration between our music and P.E. teachers helped students see how music and movement go hand in hand! Students practiced keeping a steady beat, performing rhythmic patterns with body percussion and coordinating dribbling skills with the music. It was a fun, high-energy way to build teamwork, rhythm skills, and confidence all while making music together. See attached flyer for more details.

Report cards will be available on the Genesis Parent Portal today at 3:30. If you have difficulty accessing the portal, please email our Genesis help desk at genesis@wyckoffps.org.

One School, One Book was a success! A HUGE thank you to the PTO for purchasing copies of the book for every Washington family and staff member. If you have any suggestions about the program or ideas for future titles please send them to Mrs. Telesmanich at JTelesmanich@wyckoffschools.org. We hope you enjoyed this month of reading with your family and remember: "Reading should not be presented to children as a chore or duty. It should be offered to them as a precious gift." — Kate DiCamillo.

The Wyckoff Environmental Commission is proud to celebrate our town’s 100-year Centennial by hosting its annual Team Up to Tidy Up town-wide litter cleanup on Saturday, April 25, 2026. We would like to invite all Wyckoff students to participate in this spring litter cleanup event, sponsored by the Environmental Commission and the NJ Clean Communities. NJ Clean Communities, who helps to sponsor our cleanup, is partnering with Keep America Beautiful, a national organization,  for their Great American Cleanup and is asking volunteers to take the GREATEST AMERICAN CLEANUP PLEDGE.   We can take this pledge by working together to make our town and neighborhoods more beautiful to celebrate Wyckoff’s 100-year Centennial and in time for America’s 250th Birthday on July 4, 2026.  And to help us to achieve this goal we are hoping to get at least 250 community volunteers to join us that day. Please see a flyer attached below in our Friday folders.

The next NJ4S presentation will be held on 4/14 at 6:30pm with the topic of discussion - Screenagers: Growing Up in the Digital Age. It will dive into the challenges families face in this digital age. Sign up here

Have a lovely weekend everyone!

Sincerely,

Kelly O’Brien
