Book Buddies

Dear Coolidge School Families,

The vibrant energy throughout Coolidge School this past week has been truly contagious! From active classroom discussions to shared school moments, our students and staff have brought incredible warmth and positivity to everything they do. We are so proud of the supportive, high-energy environment our entire community creates together.

NOTES OF GRATITUDE

🎃 Harvest Festival

Thank you to the Coolidge PTO for hosting our annual Harvest Festival yesterday! Every activity was thoughtfully planned, and the food, games, crafts, and music brought so much fall and Halloween cheer. Our students came to school today buzzing with excitement to share all the fun they had!

🚒 Fire Prevention Month

A huge thank you to the Wyckoff Fire Department for visiting Coolidge School to meet with our K–1 students during Fire Prevention Month. The children loved exploring the fire trucks, and we deeply appreciate the valuable fire safety tips shared with our school community.

🩷 Pink Out Day

Thank you to all the students and staff who participated in Pink Out Day on Wednesday! Coolidge transformed into a vibrant sea of pink as we united to show our community’s heartfelt support for breast cancer patients, survivors, and families.

📚 Book Buddies Launch

Thank you to our fifth graders for launching Book Buddies this week! Our fifth-grade students did a wonderful job taking the lead—reading to our first graders and encouraging them as they practiced reading aloud.

UPCOMING EVENTS & IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENTS

🌟National Make a Difference Day —  Tomorrow, Saturday, October 24

National Make a Difference Day is coming up on Saturday, October 24! To mark the occasion, the Wyckoff YMCA has asked for our help collecting handmade cards, notes, and letters for 350+ local Veterans attending the YMCA Veterans Luncheon in early November. Students made cards this week during their classes.

National Make a Difference Day is also a great opportunity for families to give back together right from home. Here are meaningful, age-appropriate ways to participate:

  • Bake or Cook for Local First Responders: Prepare homemade treats, snacks, or a thank-you letter to drop off at your local fire station or police department.

  • Host a Family "Declutter for Good" Drive: Go room-to-room together gathering gently used coats, shoes, clothes, or toys to donate to a local shelter or donation center.

  • Neighborhood Clean-Up Walk: Take a walk around your block or local park equipped with gloves and trash bags to collect litter and recyclables.

🎃COSTUME UPDATE for the Halloween Parade — Friday, October 30 at 2:30 PM

We are excited to host our annual Halloween Parade on Friday!  Please review the guidelines below to ensure a fun and safe celebration for everyone:

    • Fifth Graders

      •  Please follow the instruction given by your teacher regarding costume reveal for the Secret Fifth Grade Halloween Theme.

    • Masks may not be worn inside the school building. They are permitted during the parade itself, provided they do not restrict vision.

    • Please refrain from violent, gruesome, or vulgar costumes.

    • No toy weapons or prop items are permitted on school grounds.

  • Spectators & Parade Route:

    • The parade takes place outdoors along the sidewalk surrounding the school (rain or shine).

    • Families are warmly invited to watch from the school grounds! Please keep the sidewalk paths clear for our students.

  • Alternative Activity:

    • Participation in costume/parade activities is entirely optional. An enjoyable alternative activity will be provided for students who choose not to participate.

  • Classroom Celebrations:

    • Class parents will visit classrooms during the day to host games, activities, or crafts. Please note: No food will be served. In accordance with district policy, parents are asked not to send in treats or goodie bags (edible or non-edible), as teachers are not permitted to distribute them.
