Congratulations to our 1st and 2nd-grade students for their performance in our mini-musical, The Big Chill. They put a smile on our faces as they sang about their hope for a snow day and “6-7” feet of snow!. We surely have some talented singers and dancers in our school! Thank you to Mr. Cosman for working with the students and staff to produce a wonderful show.

By this point, most students have completed the second i-Ready diagnostic assessment. Those students who were absent or still need to complete the assessment will do so next week. The initial data show improved academic achievement in both mathematics and reading, including increases in the number of students performing at or above grade level. Our staff will review the data to identify areas of strength and areas in need of improvement as they plan goals, lessons, interventions, and small group instruction for our students.
As a reminder, all Wyckoff Schools will have a minimum day on December 23rd. Coolidge School will have a 1:05 dismissal.
Report cards are now available for grades 1-5 via the Genesis Parent Portal. Please know that report cards are intended to be a way to communicate with parents how their child is progressing towards meeting the grade level standards for a particular subject area. Learning is a continuum, and there will inherently be areas of strength and areas of growth for each student. Given that we utilize a standards-based report card, the indicators provide a context for whether the student is meeting, exceeding, or progressing toward a standard. Oftentimes, there are one or two benchmarks in a given subject area that a student is still working towards meeting. This should be met with an open, growth mindset, and a feeling that the student just hasn’t met the standard yet, but is working towards it. Parents may want to visit the district website for information about our Standards-Based Report Cards.
Message from Mr. Cosman regarding this week’s school musical rehearsals: Check out the updated December Calendar for this week's upcoming musical rehearsal schedule. Students should enter via the gym doors. Please wait in your car until someone opens the doors at 8:15. Contact Mr. Cosman if you have any questions, or refer to his email.
