School Board Meeting

A fresh new year brings a welcome feeling of rejuvenation and opportunity. We are happy to have our students back in our halls after a time of respite and recreation. Here at WSD, our faculty and staff are leveraging this fresh start feeling to heighten students' intellectual engagement and strengthen their ability to take ownership of their learning. The Wyckoff Board of Education held their annual reorganization meeting on Tuesday, where newly elected trustees Mr. James Schappert and Mr. Juan “Tony” Molina were sworn in, along with incumbent Mr. Louis Cicerchia, who was appointed Board President at the same meeting. We look forward to a year filled with continued growth and progress in our pursuit of excellence here in the Wyckoff Schools.

Connected Parent Series Launches Next Week

The 2023 Wyckoff Connected Parent Series will launch next week. The Connected Parent Series offers a variety of seminars and workshops that help parents and guardians stay connected with what their children are learning in the classroom. The first seminar takes place on January 11th and will provide insight into the assessments used to measure progress of the district’s English language learners (ELL). To view all offerings in the Connected Parent Series, visit the Resources section of our website at www.wyckoffschools.org

Author Visit Planned for Elementary Schools

Children’s author Amy Ludwig VanDerwater will visit each of our elementary schools next month. She will present writing workshops for upper elementary students on various topics including poetry, reading like writers, and notebook-keeping. Ms. VanDerwater’s children’s books include Forest Has a Song, Every Day Birds, and Read! Read! Read!.

WSD Staff-to-Staff Inservice Courses Underway

The 2023 WSD Staff Inservice Courses are currently underway. Our faculty are fortunate to have the opportunity to learn from and with their colleagues on a variety of professional growth topics through our inservice program. Courses include topics like theater in the classroom, best practices for teaching word study, how to meet the needs of the gifted learner, and more. Our WSD teachers have found that this unique program serves to enhance their teaching, spark their creativity, and inspire collaboration for the benefit of their students.
