It is hard to believe that we have reached December already, and are wrapping up our first marking period in the Wyckoff schools. As the cold weather and holiday celebrations begin, the WSD faculty and staff continue to work enthusiastically to build our students’ capacity to learn and achieve to their fullest potential. Be sure to check out the Model UN segment below which highlights the awards our middle schoolers earned at the recent JMUN conference. We are proud of the winners and all students who participated.

Sicomac Holds Schoolwide “Hallway Read”

Back by popular demand, Sicomac School held a schoolwide “Hallway Read” last month, where every student and staff member in the school “dropped everything” to read a book of their choice for 15 minutes in the hall. School media specialist Mrs. Cordello organized this initiative during Read Across America Week last spring, and it was deemed a favorite activity for students and staff.

EMS Students Earn Awards at Junior Model UN Conference

Six Eisenhower Middle School students took home awards from the Junior Academy Model United Nations (JMUN) Conference held in November. Model United Nations is a simulation of the UN General Assembly where students step into the shoes of ambassadors from UN member states to debate current issues on the organization’s agenda. The Model UN Club at EMS is run under teacher advisors Mrs. McMillan, Mrs. Moolji, and Ms. Harrichand  To view a list of this year’s award winners from EMS, visit the school’s website here.

Holiday Concerts Underway

Our schools’ holiday concerts start today and will go through January throughout the district. Lincoln School will kick it off with their first and second graders performing for their families today. Visit your school’s website to check dates and times for these delightful student performances.

NJ Start Strong Assessment Results Coming Soon

Score reports for “Start Strong” - the state assessments taken this fall by students in Grades 4 through 8 - will be shipped to districts by the New Jersey Department of Education by December 12. These individual score reports, which indicate a student’s readiness and needed level of support to master state standards in language arts and math, will be mailed home to WSD families by January 12, 2023.

Township Holiday Celebrations Begin Tonight

The Wyckoff Township will hold their annual tree lighting tonight and their annual Menorah lighting ceremony on December 18th, both at Town Hall. For details, visit the township’s website.
