Next week is New Jersey’s School Violence Awareness Week. The Wyckoff School District (WSD), in conjunction with our local law enforcement, is committed to the continual review and evaluation of methods and procedures for keeping schools safe from violence, in conjunction with our local law enforcement. Per the New Jersey Department of Education, activities during this awareness week may include preventing school violence, age-appropriate opportunities for student discussion about conflict resolution, bullying prevention and issues of student diversity and tolerance.

Parent-Teacher Conferences Next Month
Schools will close early on November 2nd and 16th for parent-teacher conferences. Elementary conference time sign-ups will be announced and opened to parents on Tuesday, October 19 at 3:30pm. Middle school conferences will be offered to parents of students whose mid-marking period progress reports indicate academic concerns or upon parent request.
Instrumental Programs in Full Swing
There are over 250 students enrolled this year in WSD’s elementary instrumental music program under the direction of teachers Mr. Wiedman and Mr. Vetrero. The program is open to fourth and fifth grade students. Whether learning to play their first notes or perfecting new techniques, students are building skills and a love for music. At Eisenhower Middle School (EMS), seventh and eighth grade band students recently participated in Marching Band Night at Indian Hills High School and will perform at the Ramapo High School Marching Band Night on October 21. In addition, the Jazz Band, Strings in Motion and middle school orchestra have begun rehearsing for their winter performances under the direction of Mr. Sassoon and Mr. Salisbury.
EMS Fall Play Dates Announced
Rehearsals are underway for the middle school production of “12 Angry Pigs” - a comical, yet surprisingly educational parody of 12 Angry Men. The show is double cast with performances at 7:30pm on November 17th and 18th under the direction of Ms. Savery and Ms. Murati.
