January message from the superintendent

January 2024 Message from Dr. Postma

February 5

School Board Meeting

February 19-23

Schools Closed

Dear Wyckoff School District Families,

I hope your new year is off to a great start. We are happily continuing teaching and learning here in the Wyckoff schools. A big kudos to our student musicians who performed this month in our winter concerts under the direction of their teachers - the halls have been filled with music and talent. Also, well done to our student athletes and their coaches  - the EMS basketball teams are both 7-0 currently, and will face Oakland tomorrow for their next game.

Morning Tutoring for Gr. 2-5 Students

As part of the ESSER grant, we are pleased to provide teacher-led tutoring before school to address learning loss. Teachers will tutor students in Grades 2-5 in reading and math, beginning February 12. To apply for this limited-capacity program, complete our tutoring application form here. (This program will be run by Wyckoff teachers before school, and is separate from the Grades 3-4 high-impact tutoring currently taking place during the school day for select students.)

Welcome Christopher Rizzo, School Board Trustee

Mr. Christopher Rizzo was sworn in this month as the newest trustee on the Wyckoff Board of Education. He and his wife Christina reside in Wyckoff with their three children. President Lou Cicerchia welcomed Mr. Rizzo at Monday’s school board meeting, which launched his three-year term.

Strategic Plan Update

Thank you again to all who participated in Strategic Planning this fall. The minutes from those meetings can be viewed here. We are currently working on a draft of the full strategic plan, which will be shared with the WSD community in the coming weeks. We look forward to partnering with all of our families, staff and stakeholders as we carry out our shared vision for the benefit of each of our students.

Sincerely,

Kerry L. Postma, Ed.D.
