sept message from superintendent

Dear Wyckoff School District Families,

I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing to share some updates about the start of the school year in our district. First and foremost, I want to express my gratitude to all the parents who attended back-to-school nights at each of our five schools. Your presence and support are greatly appreciated. Our expert teachers have made a strong start to the year, assessing students' knowledge and teaching grade-level content and skills. Our students are engaged and working hard, and we are on course for a great school year.

Invitation to Strategic Planning Sessions

I encourage all parents to participate in the district's strategic planning sessions on October 12, November 2, and November 30 at 7 p.m. at Eisenhower Middle School. These sessions will provide an opportunity for us to come together as a community to discuss our goals for the future of our schools. Information on how to register is forthcoming.

Important Update: 2023 NJSLA Scores

The 2023 NJSLA scores were mailed home today to parents of students in Grades 4-8. We are proud to share that WSD students outpaced the state average across every grade and subject area on the NJSLA. This accomplishment is the result of your children's learning, their educators' commitment, and your support. We are pleased with our district's NJSLA achievement, and we also know there are always higher heights to reach in our ongoing pursuit of excellence. No matter how your child performed on this particular assessment, we want you to know that WSD is committed to personalizing learning for every student, so that all children are well-prepared for their future.

Upcoming Parent Presentation: Magma Math

We are excited to announce an upcoming presentation organized by the PTO Coordinating Council. On October 25 at 9:30 am, at Eisenhower Middle School, they will be hosting a parent presentation on "Magma Math," a new interactive learning tool in the district for students in grades K-8. This tool promises to enhance the learning experience and engagement for our students, and I encourage all parents to attend and learn more about this exciting initiative.

Finally, next week is the Week of Respect. During this week, students will participate in a variety of activities to learn about kindness and respect. I encourage all parents to talk to their children about the importance of these values.

Thank you again for your continued support of our schools. I look forward to continuing to work with you to create a bright future for all of our students.

Sincerely,

Kerry L. Postma, Ed.D.
