School Board Meeting

The school year is coming to a close in a few short days, and I would like to wish each student, family, and staff member a wonderful summer. We have accomplished much as a school community this year, in our pursuit excellence, our commitment to building a caring community, and our endeavors to personalize learning for every child. The eighth graders will be promoted Tuesday, and will carry the memories of WSD with them in their hearts and minds as they move on to great things ahead in high school. The fifth graders will be “clapped out” of their elementary schools next week, having been nurtured and educated by our outstanding K-5 teachers and staff. Our dedicated and talented staff at EMS will welcome them in the fall and support their continued success at WSD. Thank you to the PTO and WEF and to each of our families, for your partnership this year. We are one year better and stronger, and you all play a key part in making our schools the best they can be for our youngsters.

Kerry L. Postma, Ed.D., Superintendent

Field Day Fun

Each of our elementary schools held their annual Field Day this month, and EMS held its annual Team Challenge Day last month. Our physical education and health teachers did a fantastic job planning and coordinating fitness and teamwork activities for the students, and our PTO and parent volunteers helped to ensure the success of the day. Pictured above is Mrs. Provost’s fifth grade class at Lincoln School, dressed in their red, white and blue for the occasion.

Spring Sports Wrap-Up

The EMS baseball and softball teams finished the season strong with a great performance in the playoffs, landing them both in the championship game, facing River Vale and Park Ridge, respectively. The EMS teams narrowly missed a win in their last games, each by one run. The softball team's record for the season was 11-1, and the baseball team's record was 9-2-1. Well done to each of our players, and to their coaches on a strong season.

Eighth Grade to be Promoted

The eighth grade class at Eisenhower Middle School will be promoted Monday evening in front of their teachers, family and friends. The class enjoyed a recent overnight trip to Philadelphia, and thanks to the PTO, a lively class party at the school this week, and a poignant yearbook-signing breakfast this morning. We wish each of our eighth graders much success as they continue their academic careers in high school.
