Last Day of School

June has arrived, and with it, a plethora of culminating academic and extracurricular experiences for students. Field trips, music performances, field days, and more are underway this month. Fifth graders heading to Eisenhower Middle School (EMS) in the fall are making their course selections, including a choice of three world languages, and participation in either band or chorus. A new food science exploratory will be offered, and the school’s advisory program will incorporate key middle school topics including community building and wellness. Our principals and teachers have been hosting welcome events for our incoming kindergarteners, and we look forward to bringing them into our WSD family in the fall.

Student Council and Clubs Give Back

The EMS Student Council received an award from the New Jersey Association of Student Councils (NJASC) for their fundraising efforts to support state charities. Locally, the EMS Mad4Kids Club partnered with the Wyckoff PBA to run a successful event at CycleBar, where proceeds benefited the Families to Families organization. In addition, the EMS React Club hosted their peers from Paterson at the annual party with the Oasis After-School Academy. The React Club will host a car wash on June 3rd at EMS to support their club’s outreach efforts.

Students Awarded in Academics, Athletics and the Arts

Congratulations to Eisenhower Middle School’s Model UN Team, Track Team and Music Department on their recent accomplishments. The EMS Model UN Team won the highest honor of "Best Large Delegation" at the Junior Academy Model United Nations (JAMUN) Conference held at the Bergen Academies on May 13th. In addition, many students took home individual awards in various categories. The EMS Track Team participated in the league’s championship meet last month, and eighth grader Lukas Kertesz won a medal for placing third in the 1600-meter race. In addition to several group awards, the entire EMS Music Department was awarded the “Esprit de Corps” honor at the Music in the Parks Festival at Six Flags last week. Well done, students, teachers, and coaches.
