Grade 5 Parent Night at EMS

March draws to a close today, and we have begun a spring full of music performances, field trips, and active learning here at WSD. Coolidge School’s first and second graders kicked off the elementary spring shows with their “Barnyard Moosical 2023” (pictured above). Lincoln School’s 3rd and 4th graders sang and played recorders for a packed audience yesterday. The fourth grade choral concert at Washington School will be held later today, and at Sicomac School, it will be held later this month. Spring break starts next Friday, April 7; I wish our school community an enjoyable and refreshing time with family and friends.

Lincoln Student Plays Carnegie Hall

Lincoln fifth grader Kathryn Moran performed at Carnegie Hall earlier this month after winning first place at the Elite International Music Competition in December with her performance of F. Burgmuller’s piano composition, "The Spring Op. 109 No. 5."  Kathryn was awarded a trophy and cash prize for her high score. Well done, Kathryn!

Sicomac Students See the Stars

Sicomac School housed StarLab’s portable planetarium this week, coordinated by Mrs. Moor. Primary students were invited to enter the inflatable dome and view the planets and stars and constellations. This engaging experience served as a precursor to the upcoming first grade science unit on sky patterns.

Grade 5 Parents Invited to EMS Next Month

The annual 5th Grade Parent Transition Night will be held Thursday, April 20th at 6:30pm at Eisenhower Middle School. This parent meeting will include a student-led tour and an overview of the middle school programs and offerings. All WSD 5th grade parents are invited to attend.
