In Reading Workshop the children continue to choose, “Just Right“ books. The students are working on stretching their reading stamina and also the tricky words within the text. They are all working so hard and they are truly enjoying reading!
Writing Workshop shifted the focus from personal narratives to opinion writing. The students shared their own opinions on a variety of different topics. Students worked on writing a complete sentence with a capital and a period using the transitional word because. The children were proud to compile a "Book of Opinions" and they look forward to sharing their writing with you.
In Math, the children are working with numbers to 100. We celebrated our 100th day of school with many fun and exciting activities. Thank you to all of our parents who volunteered to be a part of such a great learning experience!
In Word Study, the children learned all about the consonants K, L, H, and Z. They also learned a new vowel sound - short u. They are doing very well stretching and writing simple CVC words and are beginning to apply this skill in our Writing Workshop.
In Science we continued to explore the concepts of push and pull. The children have become experts with creating ramps and understanding how things move. We look forward to beginning our new unit in Life Science, The Basic Needs of Living Things.
We also had a wonderful Valentine's Day celebration. The students enjoyed handing out Valentine cards to their classmates. We appreciate all the treats, decorations, and time that went into helping us celebrate Valentine's Day!
We are looking forward to a fun filled March in Kindergarten! Here is a link to my homepage for more KS information-
