Miss Erica Petela

My name is Erica Petela and I have been teaching Kindergarten at Washington School since 2012, and joined the Lincoln School Community in 2018. I love working with my students because of the tremendous growth they make across all areas of development over the course of the school year.

I grew up in Linden, NJ and had a wonderful school experience. At Union Catholic High School, I played volleyball and was involved in many volunteer projects. I then attended The College of New Jersey's five-year Elementary and Special Education program. While at college, I earned a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, as well as Master's degrees in Elementary Education and Special Education. I worked with the Council for Exceptional Children, coordinating events for children and adults with special needs. I also enjoyed being a part of the Career and Community Studies Program at TCNJ where I mentored students with moderate disabilities who were enrolled in this truly special program! After graduating, I moved to Bergen County and I absolutely love teaching at Washington School. I love Kindergarten because there is so much to learn and explore!
