• Kindergarten Celebration-June 17, 2010
    They may not be able to spell "H I P P O P O T A M U S", but our kindergarten class of 2010 did a super job at their Kindergarten Celebration!  Congratulations!



    Flag Day Celebration-June 14, 2010
    Flag Day began with a heartfelt ceremony at our Peace Garden.  Students heard speeches, sang songs and honored our very own crossing guard, Mr. Baker who served proudly in World War II.  Then, students were able to partake in a PTO sponsored assembly with a Dixie Land Band.  Many thanks to the PTO for providing this wonderful program.  Please enjoy the pictures.



    3rd Grade Recorder Assembly-June 11, 2010
    The 3rd grade, under the direction of our Music Teacher, Mrs. Allen, proved their patriotism and musical ability during this assembly.  Congratulations to all involved.



    Field Day 2010- What an Event!-June 8, 2010

    4th and 5th Spring Grade Band Concert-June 3, 2010
    Under the instruction of Mr. Gene Gurick and Mr. Eric Weidman, 4th and 5th grade students performed their annual Spring Band Concert to a very receptive audience.  Everyone did a FANTASTIC job!



    Bicycle Assembly-Wyckoff Police Department

    The Wyckoff Police Department spoke to our entire school on Friday, May 28, 2010 about proper bicycle safety.  Our Bike Rally for 4th and 5th graders has been postponed until June 8, 2010.

    The 4th and 5th grade chorus, led by Mrs. Allen, received standing ovations for their outstanding performance.  Bravo to all of our chorus members and special thanks to all who helped make the show a great success!
     


    Green Team Does Their Part this Earth Day, April 22, 2010
    The Coolidge School Green Team with the help of our parent volunteers helped to beautify Coolidge School by planting wildflowers and trees in the front of the school for Earth Day. Wildflowers were generously donated by Cipriano Landscape. We are also very thankful for the trees donated by Tode Landscape.



    PTO Sponsored Cultural Assembly, April 20, 2010

    I, Nat Love is a one-man show which brought United States history to life through the journeys of a
    Black cowboy. In an assembly for grades K-3 and one for grades 4-5, Rochel Coleman recreated the life and times of Nat Love, in a series of stories based on Love's autobiography.



    Theme Day 2010
    From the movie Up to Star Trek to Sound and Animation, April 9, 2010 was a day to remember for the kids at Coolidge School.  Many thanks go out to all of the parents and presenters who worked extremely hard to make this such a special day. Check out the pictures from this day!



    Wellness Fair was Enjoyed by All

    Thanks to our Wellness Committee comprised of Coolidge Staff and Parents, our March 10, 2010 was a huge success.  Please take a moment and look at the pictures from this enjoyable and healthy day!



    Coolidge Read-A-Thon was a Huge Success
    Every student spent at least one half hour reading on our Coolidge Beach, raising money for the Media Center while enjoying our Coolidge School Read-A-Thon. 



    Project Impact Did Just That!
    Students at Coolidge School were extremely fortunate to have the opportunity to visit 2 out of 8, 50- minute workshops today.  Professionals presented the following: Musical Instrument- Inventors Workshop, Improvisational Theater, Puppetry, Dance, Cartooning and Caricature, Pottery, Paper Making and Print Making.  Students also had the opportunity to enjoy some hands on activities in each of the workshops visited. 



    Coolidge Students Dig Deep to Support Haiti
    The students of Coolidge School have unselfishly been breaking open their piggy banks to support a coin  drive that will help send shelter boxes to Haiti.

    Our 5th grade band performed today, January 21, 2010, to a wonderful audience who cheered them on.  They have made such great strides over the past year and a half!  Great job!



    Can You Spell A W E S O M E?  Our Spelling Bee Participants Could!
    Each of the 30 students who participated in Coolidge School's 3rd Annual Spelling Bee did a remarkable job.  We would like to commend everyone on their great effort and sportsmanship. A special CONGRATULATIONS goes out to our champion Stefan B. and the runner up, Peter G. Good Luck to our winner as he moves on to participate in the next round to be held at Fairleigh Dicksonson University.



    Chorus Performs at the Bergen Town Center-December 14, 2009
    For the 10th consecutive year, our Coolidge School chorus entertained shoppers with a range of solos and group performances.



    4th & 5th Grade Chorus Holiday Performance
    The Coolidge School chorus, under the talent of our music teacher Mrs. Allen, performed marvelously for the entire school on December 15, 2009.



    2nd & 3rd Grade Holiday Performance
    Our 2nd and 3rd graders performed twice today, December 10, 2009, presenting a spectacular holiday show!  Enjoy the photos! 



    Kindergarten and 1st Grade Kick Off The Holiday Shows
    All of our kindergarten and 1st graders put a smile on everyone's faces as they kicked off our holiday shows this season.



    1st Grade Thanksgiving Performance
    All of our 1st graders did an outstanding job as they told the story about the 1st Thanksgiving and entertained us with some wonderful songs.



    Enjoying a Healthy Makeover- November 17, 2009
    Our "Wellness Committee" hosted a "Healthy Family Makeover on Tuesday, November 17, 2009". This gallery of photos show parents attending the four different workshops which were titled "Indoor and Outdoor Movement Activities", "Menu Planning with Snacks and Box Lunches", "Pantry and Refrigerator Makeovers", and "Label Reading and Wise Supermarket Shopping Ideas".  The parents  sampled a variety of tasty low carbohydrate, low fat, high fiber snacks as well as whole grain sandwiches, low fat cheeses and crackers and Turkey chili. Recipe booklets were also distributed for the food that was served as well as for other meals. A door prize consisting of healthy staple items for the pantry and a jumprope to help stay fit was raffled off at the end of the evening. The participants left the workshops more knowledgeable about good nutrition and the importance of exercise. 



    The 4th Grade Learns from the Outdoors-October 20, 2009
    Mrs. Kochanek taught a class on gardening in the outdoor classroom to fourth grade students. She integrated a math lesson  with a hands-on activity of planting tulip bulbs, crocuses and daffodils. The students also learned about the importance of water conservation as they used the rain water from the barrels to water their plants


    Principal's Summer Book Club

    This summer Mr. Famularo hosted the first Summer Book Club on Wednesday, July 29, 2009.  Students entering grades K-2 read, Iris and Walter-The Sleepover, grade 3 read Clementine and 4th and 5th graders read The Janitor's Boy.  The conversations were thoughtful, the activities were enjoyable and the special treats supplied by Mr. Famularo were enjoyed by all.  Check out some of the pictures from this day.



    Fire Prevention Assembly-October 7, 2009
    Students learned all about fire prevention from our friends at the Wyckoff Fire Department. They demonstrated the equipment, explained what to do in an emergency and gave our younger students an exciting tour of the fire truck.
