Musical Revue This Weekend
Posted on 11/12/2021

This weekend, approximately 250 choral students from all five WSD schools will come together for a workshop performance of “All Together Now,” a global musical event sponsored by Musical Theater International. We are proud of all the students involved in this production for their hard work, and wish them all the best as they showcase their collective talent this weekend under the direction of WSD music teachers Ms. Savery, Ms. Tanis, Ms. Panzitta, Mr. Cosman, and Mr. Potosnak. The show will premiere on Ms. Savery’s YouTube channel on Saturday, November 13th at 7:00 p.m and will be available for viewing through Monday November 15th.

Veterans Day Observed at Wyckoff Schools
This week, WSD students participated in a variety of lessons and activities to learn about and honor our nation’s military veterans. Yesterday, U.S. Army veteran and Wyckoff dad, Mark DeLorenzo raised the flag at Sicomac School, accompanied by the school’s student council. Thank you to all of the military personnel who have served and currently serve to protect our liberty and safety.

School Climate Survey Closes Today
Reminder, as part of our continuous effort to improve students’ education and prevent at–risk student behavior, WSD staff, students and parents are invited to complete the voluntary New Jersey School Climate Survey (NJSCS). The NJSCS is a validated questionnaire designed to support local school climate and culture improvement activities. There is no mechanism for reporting survey data to the state; rather, the NJSCS materials are provided to help schools understand and improve local safe and supportive conditions for learning. The link to the survey can be found on our district website. The survey will close at the end of the day today, November 12th. Thank you for your participation.

RIH High Schoolers Visit EMS
On Tuesday, the Ramapo Raiders Marching Band performed for students at Eisenhower Middle School (EMS) and shared their experiences transitioning from middle school to high school, including how being a member of the band helped them meet new people and make friends with common interests. The following day, principals from both Ramapo and Indian Hills High Schools (RIH), along with a group of EMS alumni, spoke to parents about the opportunities available to students in each of the high schools, helpful tips in getting acclimated to high school, and some of their favorite pastimes at EMS.

Boys Soccer Team Wins Championship
Congratulations to the EMS boys’ soccer team and Coach Cascio on winning the championship last week. The Generals brought the trophy home after an exciting win against Franklin Lakes with a score of 5-2. The players will be recognized at Monday’s school board meeting.

November 18 Parent Seminar
Next week, the Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO) will host a seminar for all WSD parents titled “Gaining Ground: How to Help Your Children Rally and Thrive.” The seminar will be led by our own team of school counselors and instructional coaches, who will provide tips for elementary and middle school parents on how to support their children academically and emotionally. This event will take place Thursday, November 18th at 9:15 a.m. in the Lincoln School Multi-Purpose Room.
