New Board Member Takes Office

Louis Cicerchia, the newest member of the Board of Education, took his seat at the table during the Board’s reorganization meeting on January 13th. He was elected in November to fill the seat vacated by nine-year board member Christopher Della Pietra.

Cicerchia, a seven-year resident of Wyckoff, works in the commercial real estate finance industry. He has served previously on the Wyckoff Zoning Board of Adjustment and has board experience with his church and a charity called Finding the Fabulous, which is dedicated to inspiring the next generation of female role models.

“My finance background and in-depth board member experience will be valuable when hiring decisions and budget decisions (nearly 72% of our local tax levy goes to fund our local schools) need to be made,” Cicerchia said in a statement explaining his interest in running for the school board.

Election Day also brought the reelection of two incumbent board members Timothy Murtha and Daniel McHugh. Both are beginning their second three-year terms on the Board.

The Board bid farewell to Della Pietra in December with a resolution recognizing him for his nine years of service, which included time as Chair of the Finance Committee, Chair of the Negotiations Committee, and membership on the Facilities Committee.
