Happy spring to all WSD students, families and staff. Report cards for the second academic trimester will be issued today via the Genesis Parent Portal for students in grades 1 through 8. Kindergarten progress will be communicated to parents and guardians via in-person conferences held this month. Under the direction of Mrs. Savery and Ms. Knyfd, the EMS Spring Musical “Into the Woods” was performed by one cast of middle schoolers last night, and will be performed by a second cast tonight at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are sold at the door. We are proud of our talented young actors and singers.

Special School Board Meeting Monday

There will be a special school board meeting Monday to approve the submission of the tentative 2022-2023 budget to the Bergen County Department of Education. The Wyckoff School District’s annual public budget hearing, which includes a full presentation of the 2022-2023 proposed budget followed by a Board vote, will be held on April 25, 2022.

Government Officials Visit Sicomac School

As a culminating enrichment experience of their social studies government unit, Sicomac fourth graders enjoyed visits from two Sicomac dads (one present, one former) who serve as government officials. Congressman Josh Gottheimer and Assemblyman Christopher DePhillips spoke about their respective roles in the United States House of Representatives and the New Jersey General Assembly and answered student questions. Students learned about the branches of government, how laws get passed, and the relationship between the states and the federal government.

Upcoming Parent Seminar

The Wyckoff Connected Parents Series continues with “The Epitome of the Four C’s” at Eisenhower Middle School on Thursday, April 7th. This seminar, presented by our middle school music teachers, will review for parents how the four C’s — collaboration, creativity, critical thinking, and communication — serve to equip students to succeed in school, in music, and eventually in the job market. Please see our district website for the registration link and for a full list of offerings in the Connected Parents series.

Elementary Intramural Sports Underway

Intramural sports activities are underway at each of our elementary schools. Facilitated by WSD physical education teachers, these afterschool programs offer ways to get students moving, collaborating, and having fun. Color Tag, Wall Ball, Scooter Football, and Pillow Polo are just a few of the offerings for our youngsters. For sign-up information, contact the main office at your child’s school.

Health Update

The WSD COVID-19 Dashboard reflects the latest cases of COVID-19 in our schools. As always, individuals experiencing symptoms should stay home from school, and follow the procedures outlined in the WSD Operations PlanWeekly COVID-19 testing of unvaccinated staff and volunteers continues to be required under Governor Murphy’s Executive Order 253
