Services to be Held Tomorrow for Coach Gibbs
Coach Drew Gibbs, well-loved teacher and football coach at Ramapo High School and a resident of Wyckoff, passed away this week at the age of 59. The Gibbs family will receive family and friends at Cornerstone Church tomorrow, Saturday, November 20th, from 2:00 - 6:00pm. To alleviate parking concerns, a shuttle will run from Eisenhower Middle School and Ramapo High School parking lots. For more details, please see the obituary and RIH Superintendent Dr. Dionisio’s recent communication to the Ramapo-Indian Hills High School Community. Many of our students, families, and alumni knew and cared for Coach Gibbs. His family, colleagues, students, and players are in our thoughts and prayers. We are prepared to support any WSD students, staff or families who may be grieving at this difficult time. Please reach out to your child's school counselor with any concerns or for needed support.

Math Education Expert Offers Teacher and Parent Trainings
WSD upper elementary math teachers and instructional coaches recently participated in professional development led by math textbook author and consultant Bill Jackson. Jackson modeled effective instructional techniques that promote math fluency and conceptual understanding for students. The highly engaging consultant will also provide a parent session the evening of December 2nd, where elementary parents will have an opportunity to learn about the district’s Math in Focus program, and how to support students at home. More details to follow.

Rotary Club Gifts Student Dictionaries
Annually, the Wyckoff-Midland Park Rotary Club gifts a dictionary to every third grader in the Wyckoff School District. This year, students in Eisenhower Middle School REACT Service Club accompanied the Rotarians to distribute the dictionaries to students in both grades three and four, since last year’s visit was suspended due to the pandemic. We thank the Rotary for this generous and meaningful donation, and our EMS REACT students and advisors Ms. Dobson and Mr. Deloughry for organizing this event.

Famed Authors Visit Lincoln and Sicomac Schools
This month, award-winning children’s author Stacy McAnulty visited Lincoln School, and Sicomac School welcomed renowned author and illustrator John Parra. These famous writers shared with students the inspirations behind their books, details of their writing and illustrating process, and their journey to becoming authors. We thank each school’s PTO for planning and sponsoring these events, and school media specialists Ms. Husstege and Ms. Cordello for preparing and organizing the visits for students.

Thank You to WSD Staff and Families
Thank you to WSD staff, students and parents who participated in our recent school climate survey. We value your feedback, which will be used to continue to improve WSD schools and keep our students safe. Survey results are being compiled and will be shared with the community next month. WSD teachers held parent conferences this month, where they shared student progress since the start of the year. WSD teachers strive day in and day out to provide the highest quality education to all of their students, and they view parents as key partners in this important work. In the same vein, there was a great turnout and overwhelmingly positive feedback for yesterday’s PTO Parent Seminar, where WSD counselors and academic coaches shared tips for bolstering student success. These events reinforce that working together, we can support and equip our students with what they need to rally and thrive in school and beyond. Thank you to all WSD staff and families for your continued partnership.
