Abracadabra Science

Have you ever seen milk vanish into thin air? Was it magic? Or...was it science!? Many tricks that magicians use are illusions based on science. Join us to use the wonders of science to trick your friends and family or put on your own magic show!

This FREE course is designed for Wyckoff residents who want to gain valuable experience working with the younger students in the summer program.  Students will be assigned as teacher aides to assist with classroom supervision and instruction. Community service hours will be provided.  Students must sign up for each period & session they would like to be a counselor. Students may also enroll in classes for other periods. Students enrolled in at least one class will be given preferential consideration in placement. 


Art Around the World

Entering Grades K, 1, 2, and 3

Miss Doctor

Join us as we dive into different cultures from around the world by exploring the art that they create. Each day we will touch down on a different country around the globe, and examine the artistic beauty of their culture. From African masks, to Australian dot art boomerangs, to Canadian Inuit Inukshuk - we're going to explore it all and make our own re-creations while we learn about the history and geography of the world. 


Avengers Mania!

Entering Grades 4, 5, 6, and 7

A creative look into the Avengers characters and their backgrounds. Students will learn about s

pecific heroes and their characteristics. Students will compare characters and debate the strengths and weaknesses in real-world scenarios. Students will also watch scenes from the movies!


Bead Critters

Ms. Streaser

Do you enjoy arts and crafts? Do you like animals, bugs, and critters? Come learn how to make and design your own bead critters! You can make them into keychains, pets, gifts, and more. 


Beginner Theater Games and Improvisation

Entering Grades 3, 4, and 5

Ms. Walker

This class is for students who love acting and want to try something new. It is also a class for students who have never been on stage but want to try something in a very safe and low-key environment. This class will explore acting through theater games and improvisation exercises. 


Book Trailers - Lights, Camera, Action! 

Entering Grades 5, 6, 7, and 8

Mrs. Ingle 

A book trailer, like a movie trailer, is a marketing tool used to promote a book. In this class, students will view a variety of book and movie trailers to study effective qualities and techniques. Then, students will create their own book trailers using iMovie. 


Building Minds with Blocks

Entering Grades K, 1, and 2

Session 2 Only

Mrs. Surgent

Children will learn to create plans and implement their designs through block play. They will use their reading, writing, and math skills to build skyscrapers, hotels, airports, and/or other structures that spark student interest! Not only will your child enjoy the experience of building, but also be immersed in purposeful play, which influences communication and social skills. Join the block building fun!


Bracelet Makers

Entering Grades 3, 4, 5, and 6

Ms. Reid

Have you ever wanted to learn how to create string and beaded bracelets? Then this is the class for you! We will learn how to construct bracelets of different patterns and techniques while adding some jewels to our creations!


Bracelet Friendship Art

Entering Grades 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8

Mrs. Simon

Students will create at least five of their own bracelets using a variety of techniques and colors using string and beads. The types of bracelets made will include braided, spiral staircase, alternating leaves, ladder, and more!  


Bullet Journaling

Entering Grades 5, 6, 7, and 8

Ms. Sancillo

Have you ever wondered how organizing information can be both relaxing and fun? Bullet journaling is a method of organization where one can track schedules, homework, birthdays, goals, and more, all in one journal. Bullet journaling is currently one of the trendiest ways to stay organized and involves skills like calligraphy, doodling, and lots of creativity thrown in! After this course, students will have techniques for organizing that they can take with them for years to come.


Clay Creations

Entering Grades 5, 6, 7, and 8

Students will experience a 2-week clay workshop that includes learning about the properties of glass and various tools and techniques to manipulate clay.  Both fine art (masks, sculptures, etc) and functional art (pots, mugs) will be created during the course. Students will also get the chance to experiment with clay glazing techniques and learn about the process of using a kiln to fire (harden) their creations.  Each student will create at least three different clay works during their 2-week session.


Cooking in Italy 

Entering Grades 5, 6, 7 and 8

Ms. Strippoli

Various cooking techniques will be learned as students take a culinary trip to Italy. Measure, mix, peel, chop, dice, and prepare recipes from different regions of Italy.  Join us for a tasty trip where we’ll enjoy a delicious tour of homemade Italian favorites. Come explore and Buon Appetito!

(Recipes will contain dairy, oils/nuts, eggs, and meat.)


Computer Coding and the Physical World

Entering Grades 3, 4, 5 and 6

Do you like to play video games and work on computers?  Learn the concepts behind programming and create your own interactive projects.   Bring your programming to life as we learn to connect the virtual and physical worlds using Makey Makey and other stuff.   All levels of experience are welcome.


Creative Cookie

Entering Grades 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6

Ms. Reid

Do you love the different cookie designs you see at the bakery? Then this is the class for you! Students will learn different decorating techniques with various icing toppings to add art on top of a cookie. Now this is art we can eat!


3D Printing and Laser Engraving Design

Entering Grades 3, 4, 5 and 6

Session 2 Only

Check out the exciting world of 3D printing and laser engraving! Students in the class will learn to create 3D designs on the computer and make them come to life through 3D printing.  In addition, students will laser engrave their very own designs and drawings onto different materials using the laser engraver and cutter.  No experience needed. 


Draw a Story

Do you like to draw? Do you like to tell stories? Then put your two interests together in this class! Students will be shown the basics of narrative art and how they can use their drawings to illustrate stories. They will learn about the parts of drawings and stories then create various characters in settings that come alive on the page!


DIY Projects using the Cricut 

Entering Grades 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8

Design your own T-Shirts, cards, and gifts using the Cricut cutting machine and the Cricut Design Space. Students will learn the basics of design and enhance their design thinking skills in this hands-on class.


Environmental Science

Ms. Walker

Young scientists will study the environment around them including the types of animals and plants we find in Wyckoff, how they interact, the natural resources available in our surrounding environment and how they are used and cycled through the environment. Scientists will also examine how they use and impact their environment.


Fiber Art

This is a double class. Students will explore and create knitting and original projects that incorporate yarn, string, or other fibers to create original works of art.


Film and Literature

Calling all film lovers! We will be comparing and contrasting films alongside written stories. We will also analyze how films are created to engage viewers and bring a story to life. Afterward, students will create a culminating project using a storyboard to bring one of their favorite stories to life! Possible titles include (but are not limited to): Matilda, Holes, and Bridge to Terabithia.


Forensic Science

Entering Grades 3, 4, and 5

Mrs. Simon

Students will solve the mystery of who stole the bake sale money using forensic science. By using techniques such as fingerprinting, chromatography, DNA analysis, hair, and fiber analysis, testimony review, paint splatter and tread analysis, students will catch the crumby culprit and find the hard-earned money!

This is a fitness and physical education style class with engaging games and challenges. Activities will consist of tag, scooters, and so much more. Come join me and have Fun with Fitness. 


Fun with Phonics

Students participating in this session will enrich their early literacy skills through multi-sensory activities, games, and play.  Participants will engage in literacy activities that involve rhyming, music, drama, movement, and art. They will have a blast while reinforcing their beginning reading and writing skills!  


Go Greek!

Entering Grades 5, 6, 7, and 8

Ms. Valinoti

A course designed to introduce students to a deeper knowledge of Greek mythology characters. Students will learn more about the significance of these ancient figures through activities that bring ancient times to life. Students will also look at examples of Greek mythology characters in popular culture.


Graphic Novels Galore! 

Entering Grades 5, 6, 7 and 8

Mrs. Ingle 

We will explore and create graphic novels. This is a genre that is becoming increasingly popular. Students will read and discuss graphic novels. And then use online programs to create their own! Students will love reading, writing, and art will enjoy this course. 

 

iMovie

Entering grades 3, 4, 5, and 6

Mr. Villeneuve

Students will learn about the history of filmmaking and incorporate their own techniques to create short films, documentaries, silent films, and so much more! Students will also learn how to edit footage, and add music and effects to their footage. Students will also utilize concepts of how to use the green screen. 


Introduction to Forensic Science

Entering Grades 5, 6, 7, and 8

Ms. Walker

Young scientists will learn how to analyze and interpret forensic evidence such as fingerprints, examining fibers and hairs under a microscope, blood type analysis, and DNA fingerprint analysis. 


Introduction to Mosaics

Entering Grades 5, 6, 7, and 8

Students will be introduced to the art of mosaics.  They will learn about the tools and techniques needed to cut glass and tiles to make unique creations such as wall hangings, picture frames, garden stones and more.  All students will create at least 3 mosaic works in their 2-week session. 


Junior World Drumming

Entering Grades K, 1, 2, 3, and 4

Mr. Sasson

Students will learn about different drums from around the world and how to play them. They will experiment with the different sounds they make. No experience is needed, and drums will be provided. 


Latin Percussion Ensemble

Entering Grades 5, 6, 7, and 8

Mr. Sasson

Students will learn basic Latin percussion patterns and sounds of a Latin group. Students will leave the class with a recording of the group playing a full percussion piece. No previous experience needed, and percussion instruments will be provided. 


Lego Builders

Explore your creative side and enjoyment of being a Lego creator while enjoying the fun of meeting other students who share the same passion and desire to build with Legos.  We will work on free builds as well as specific guides to see who can duplicate using free blocks. Explore the variety of blocks that I have collected over the course of my life and use your imagination while building.


Lego Robotics EV3

Come explore the exciting world of robotics through the use of the Lego EV3!  Students will build and design robots that will perform specific tasks and complete designed challenges.  Students will learn to program the robots and remote control them too. All levels of experience are welcome.

A course designed to teach the basics of cheerleading with one of the Eisenhower Middle School Cheer Coaches! We will review cheer techniques for motions, jumps, and stunts and learn some EMS Cheers! This is great if you want to be an EMS Cheerleader, but not required!


Let’s Get Crafty

Are you a crafter? Do you love to make things out of household items? Is Michaels your favorite store? If you answered yes to any of these questions, this class is the right one for you.  We will be crafting from the first day you walk through the door. Be prepared to get a little dirty. Smocks are necessary for the fun that we are going to have. Put your creativity to work and get those juices going. 



Macrame For Beginners

Students will learn about the trendy art of macrame. Throughout the course, they will create several beautiful pieces to bring home, as well as, the skills and inspiration to take on new projects of their own!


Makerspace Music

Students will embark on a musical adventure utilizing technology and creative skills to design and compose music/instruments in our makerspace. Students will utilize an array of multiple tools and strategies to invent and perform their creations. 


Manipulating Math

Are you looking for a fun, hands-on math experience for your child? Look no further! Students will manipulate math through read-alouds, music, projects, and activities. Together we will reinforce basic math concepts to create exciting experiences such as making slime and play dough, tessellation artwork, and symmetrical paper mache sculptures! It’s math mania! 


Mindful Warriors

Students will engage in numerous mindful and wellness practices including yoga, breathing, arts and crafts, meditation, and games that will help to improve their focus, attention, confidence, awareness, and overall well-being

Students will learn to compose basic pieces of music using web-based application Flat.io. Students will learn basic fundamentals of music and how to use it in composition. Students will end class with a copy of their piece and an audio recording.


Musical Theater

Students will work on all elements of theater, and create a small show to perform for parents at the end of the 2 weeks Students will create their own costumes, choose their own songs to perform, and will work on scenes to complement their songs.

Children will learn and perform songs and dances, which will end in a culminating performance for parents at the end of a two-week session. We will explore elements of theater and music as well!

Do you like to be creative and build awesome objects? Then join us in mystery bag STEM challenge! In this class, each student will be given a bag of materials with a task. Then, each student will use the materials to make an object that will solve the problem. Each day will bring a new challenge.

Are you a fan of mysteries and “Who Done Its?” Then this is the class for you! In this session we will learn all about the elements of a mystery. We will watch TV shows, read stories, and even have a real life mystery to solve in the classroom. Students will feel like their very own Sherlock Holmes by the end of the session.

Paint Adventure

Let’s take a ride on a Paint Adventure! Students will be given the opportunity to expand their painting skills by learning new techniques and experimenting with different painting surfaces. Students will create several paintings on canvases, natural materials, and t-shirts. 


Painted Animal Masterpieces

Entering Grades 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8

Mrs. Simon

Follow along in this step-by-step class to create your own painted animal masterpieces. Each painting is customizable with your favorite colors to make each creation your own! Learn the basics of painting along with shadowing, highlighting, and blending in this introductory course. Each painting takes about 3 classes to complete and students then take their masterpiece home with them when finished.

Do you love taking pictures and capturing those special moments in your life? In this class, students will learn the basics of photography including shot angles, shooting various subjects, using focal points and more.  In addition, we will learn to edit, improve and transform your photos using computer software. Pint-Sized Picassos

An early elementary art class that focuses on a different master artist each day.  Students will read a story or watch a short video about the artist before creating a work of art inspired by their style or techniques.  


Playing with Words: Puzzles & Poetry

Kids are told to play with their food, but why not play with their words? Words can be enjoyed in so many ways--they are versatile and fun! We will read and write poems, including acrostics and haiku poems. We will solve challenging word puzzles, like crosswords and riddles. We will play word games, such as Scattergories and Scrabble. Participants in this session will love playing with words through poetry, puzzles, and more!


Reading With Art Expression

This course is designed to deepen readers' understanding of a variety of texts using art as a medium. Students will read poems, short stories, news articles, and other texts and share their interpretations through art. They will create visual or multi-sensory art pieces based on the explored text.



Safety Town

Entering Grade K

Session 1 - June 29th through July 10th

Have your child meet and interact with other kindergarteners as they are introduced to safety awareness and preventative procedures. First responders from the community including members of the police, fire, and emergency medical service will visit during each session with their emergency vehicles to educate the students on safety. Students will also practice "driving" through their own town while engaging in specific safety lessons.


School of Rock

Entering Grades k, 1, 2, and 3

Students will get together to create a rock band. Students will learn how to play simple rock songs, prepare for a performance, and learn how to use technology when creating music for a live audience or for a studio session. Students will be the performer, engineer, and producer of their band.


Secret Spy Code

Entering Grades  2, 3, 4, and 5

Miss Doctor

To protect the secrets that they gather, spies use codes and ciphers-secret ways to write things down. If the enemy finds their paper, all they will see is nonsense. They will not recognize the sensitive information that is being shared. In this class, we will learn different codes and ciphers so that we can be like spies, and keep our information secret. Codes and ciphers will range from morse code, pigpen, phonetic alphabet, tap code, substitution ciphers, to letters for numbers, and many more! 


Science In A Jar

Entering Grades K, 1, 2, and 3

What can you do in a jar? Quite a lot! These mason jar science experiments are so entertaining, and help teach children the basics of the scientific method and science in a fun and accessible way! Kids will be able to complete different STEM activities to learn how to make rainbows walk, make a volcano erupt slime, make a rubber egg, create a tornado in a jar, and many more! This class will come with a little How To book  that children can then use to teach their friends and family at home all summer long!


Shakespeare In The Park

This course is designed to bring Shakespeare to life! Students will read, watch and listen to Shakespeare - related or adapted plays. Students will also perform some adaptations “in the park.” 


Summer Book Club

Trying to read during the summer? Come join our book club! We will read, discuss, and share how to zoom into our stories together. Each day, we will read and engage with the text in a new way. Students will be able to enjoy reading with other students who want to share and discuss the stories. They will be provided with a schedule to meet our weekly goals. Titles will be provided in advance and should be acquired at one of the neighboring libraries! 


Summer Wind Ensemble

Entering Grades 6, 7, and 8

Mr. Sasson

A 4-week course (not required to attend all 4 weeks) where Brass/Woodwind and Percussion students would get to put together 2 - 3 pieces of music. Students should be ready to play in a larger group with somewhat more advanced music. Percussion instruments will be provided, others will need to be brought from home - Flute, Clarinet, Alto Sax, and Trumpet.


Tag, You’re It!

Entering Grades 1 and 2

Every day students will learn and play a different "tag" game with peers. Games such as freeze tag, sharks and minnows, blob tag, and lava tag will get your child running, moving, and laughing with friends!

It is all about ball games. Students will play almost any ball game imaginable! We will spend the start of class warming up and working on some skills. Then progress into a class activity using the skills we worked on.


The Craft of Art and Science

In this class, students will learn the basics of science while creating art. We will create a variety of crafts and discuss the science behind making these art projects and crafts. 


Theater Games and Improv

Students will play theater games, create their own scripts, and learn about the art of improvisational theater. 


Under the Sea Story Scripts

Students will have the opportunity to create their own characters and illustrate their own stories. The theme for the course will be under the sea which incorporates learning about ocean animals, the ocean environments, and where oceans are located. Students will work in small and large groups to develop stories that they can read and present to the class.





Watercolor Painting

Entering Grades 3, 4, and 5

Throughout this class, students will create beautiful and unique watercolor pieces. By the end of the course, students will be able to showcase their one of a kind art in a personalized portfolio. 


Wonders of the Human Body

Entering Grades 2, 3, and 4

Mrs. Simon

Ever wonder how your food gets digested? Why is it called a funny bone if it hurts so much when you hit it? Students will learn about how the human body works, what the different systems do, and build models of different structures in the body. Explore the digestive, skeletal, nervous, circulatory, and respiratory systems in this hands-on class.


Wonderful Fun

Daily themes are visited in Wonderful Fun as we share great pieces of children's literature. Delightful creative art projects help reinforce comprehension. Children enjoy Makerspace activities, center time, dramatic play, games, puzzles, Legos and blocks. Social skills and positive self-esteem are built in the process. When you add it all up, it definitely translates to Wonderful Fun!

Yoga and Literacy

Come and enjoy a fun-filled yoga and literacy class this summer. Students will read stories with themes related to nature, friendship, balance, flexibility, mindfulness, imagination, focus, listening, and play. They will then engage in a fun-filled yoga session related to the theme of the book read. Students should bring a yoga mat to practice on and wear comfortable gym clothes to class.


Yoga for Teens

Dive into yoga this summer! Young adults will be guided through different yoga classes each day. Each day will have a new intention to help bring mindfulness, strength, and focus. Students will also work together to create mindfulness crafts and essential oils. Breathing techniques and various yoga postures for body positivity, flexibility, and self-esteem.




Yoga with a Theme

Are you a fan of Star Wars? Mermaids? Race cars? Disney? Animals?! Then you will love this yoga class! Each day is a new theme! We will move and relax through yoga poses set to each day’s theme. Students will also have themed music, videos and storybooks to help focus the class on the day’s intention. Learn how to stretch, focus and relax while having fun with your favorite characters. Students will receive a schedule in advance in case they would like to dress up for each yoga theme day.


Young Adult Book Club

Entering Grades 5, 6, 7, and 8

Calling all readers! Come read this summer in book clubs! Book clubs are a great way to foster social skills, independence and a love for reading! Students will vote from four books at registration and will receive a copy of each book. The class will create a schedule for reading. Sessions will involve discussing the pages of the book and having independent reading time in the outdoors & flexible seating areas. Learn how much fun reading can be! In addition, if the book was chosen has a movie version, we will end the session watching the film to compare!


Zumba Fitness - Jump Start Kids!

Entering Grades 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8

Ms. Miller

Have you ever had a Go Noodle Brain Break in class and wanted to rock the moves on the Zumba channel? In this class, we will learn the core styles of dancing for Zumba and learn kid-friendly routines based on original Zumba choreography. We'll break down the steps, and learn games, activities and explore the cultural elements of Zumba! Join in the fun and learn many fun moves!
