WEF ANNUAL SPRING GALA- THIS FRIDAY!

The 2017 WEF Gala, "Lights, Camera, Auction!", is THIS FRIDAY.  As you know, WEF is once again raising money to benefit the STEAM initiatives at all of the schools including the individual MakerSpaces. Each school will receive a grant from WEF to be used towards these creative spaces for materials and further development.

To foster some school pride and encourage a strong turnout from each school, WEF is offering an additional grant of $500 towards the school with the highest percentage of attendance at this year's Gala. This could mean extra resources for Coolidge School!

COFFEE WITH THE PRINCIPAL- 3/29 @ 2PM

You are cordially invited to Coffee with the Principal on Wednesday, 3/29 at 2pm in the Coolidge MPR.

Instructional Coach, Shanna Anderson, Math Specialist, Nancy Perry and Mr. Famularo will work alongside parents to learn about the model drawing method, a strategy that gives word problems a visual context.  Have some fun while you learn about the rationale for using bar models to solve word problems.

Please RSVP to Linda Eckstein at 201-848-5710 or leckstein@wyckoffschools.org. Walk-ins, however, are always welcome!

HARLEM WIZARDS

Tickets for our April 23rd PTO Harlem Wizards Game/Fundraiser are now on sale. See the flyer that went home on Friday! Click here to see the Harlem Wizards promo at Coolidge last week.

MEDIA CENTER UPDATE

February was an exciting time in the Media Center. Thanks to the generosity of the PTO, we had a fabulous author visit with Sarah Weeks. She taught the students about the film-making process as well as writing tips. She told lots of funny stories that the students really enjoyed. The students asked truly insightful questions. We learned so much! If you would like to see pictures from her visit, they are at http://www.wyckoffps.org/Page/7319.

We also had a wonderful time celebrating Dr. Seuss and Read Across America Day. The students had a terrific time dressing up as their favorite characters and getting a special visit from a VIP Guest Reader.

To further celebrate Dr. Seuss, every class went to the MakerSpace during Media time. The students' challenge was to create something that would fit in perfectly in Dr. Seuss' world. The students had so much fun and showed amazing creativity.
