Welcome to the web site of Calvin Coolidge School. I hope you enjoy learning about our wonderful programs and about the amazing accomplishments of our students. We are a school that is committed to academic excellence
and is proud of the warm and caring environment we provide for our children. A
close supportive team effort and family-like atmosphere in which our staff
provides a solid learning environment for students is the main characteristic
of Calvin Coolidge School. Our Building Team Committee provides a comprehensive
review of all students in the school on a regular basis and provides support,
guidance, and professional development to school staff to meet the unique needs
of every child. Assessment data is reviewed consistently and is used as a tool
to drive instruction. Our counselor presents an on-going developmental guidance
program that addresses various needs at different grades. The administration
works closely with staff and students to provide a school environment in which
all students feel safe and secure. The theme at Coolidge School this year is We Are Family. Throughout the year efforts are being
made to promote the notion of teamwork, unity, cooperation and friendship
throughout our school. Students join together each morning to listen to
announcements over the PA System that foster discussion in the classroom
regarding character education. All students in grades K-5 took part in Caring
Lessons during the month of September to promote a greater sense of unity
and to promote the importance of treating others with respect. Lastly, once a
month students meet with their families to take part in community building
experiences with classmates. Families consist of students from grades K-5 and
are led by a Coolidge School staff member. Family Time has proven to be a
favorite of both students and staff thus far this year and has helped form lasting
connections and friendships. We are proud of our dedicated and talented staff of professionals
at Coolidge School. Teachers regularly participate in strong in-service
programs to improve instructional skills in the areas of technology integration,
reading and writing, differentiated instruction, bullying prevention, problem
based learning, and much more. Furthermore, a high percentage of our teachers
possess at least one master's degree, and many hold additional advanced
certification. There is a wide range of technology available for all students
through our computer technology lab. Computers in each classroom provide a
variety of multimedia technology and computers are available in our
library/media center where students use a computerized circulation system to
access books. Teachers consistently infuse technology into their daily lessons
using iBook computers, LCD projectors, document cameras, and Smart Boards to
implement interactive lessons for their students. Lastly, each teacher has a
personalized website including classroom highlights, educational links, and class photos. It is our goal to provide our 21st century learners
with the tools needed to be successful in their lives. Teachers, recognizing community demands for a high priority on
excellence, provide an atmosphere for excellence in teaching and learning.
Outstanding parental involvement in our PTO affords us the opportunity to
present many programs and events in our school. The schools use the money
raised by the PTO for cultural assemblies, field trips, science and art days,
book fairs, technology equipment, library/media equipment, and campus
beautification. |
