Club Overview1. Girls’ Volleyball Club, Mrs. McCurry', Monday 3:00-4:15 PM Gymnasium All 7th & 8th grade girls are eligible to sign-up and play volleyball. The focal point of the program is to teach the fundamental skills of volleyball, offensive/defensive strategies and learn the rules and regulations of the game. 2. Battle of the Books Mrs. Newman & Ms. Perrotta, Tuesday 2:50-3:50 PM Room 307 This activity will offer 6th, 7th, 8th graders with strong interests in reading to compete on teams in the Battle of the Books. Teams will be organized and 6th, 7th, 8th grade representatives will be able to compete against other schools in the spring. Students may choose to compete interscholastically or participate in weekly club meetings only. 3. Newspaper Club Mr. Levy, 1 to 2 times a week, 3:00–4:00 PM Room 417 Extra, extra read all about it! Join this exciting club to report on all the great news of Eisenhower School. Become a member of Eisenhower’s newspaper, General News, by interviewing, writing, and publishing articles. 4. Re-Act Mrs. Dobson, Wednesday 3:00-3:45 PM Cafeteria Re-Act is closely linked to the ideals of Rotary and will be a natural succession into Interact, the largest club at Ramapo & Indian Hills. This club focuses on community service activities. Activities will count towards your community service hours. 5. Courtyard Club, Mrs. Avia & Ms. Hohmann, Thursday 2:50-3:50 PM Cafeteria Have a snack, meet new friends, plant some flowers, and pull those weeds!! If you love the outdoors, you’ll love this club! You will learn how to take care of plants. 6. ELM- Eisenhower Literary Magazine, Dr. Pepe Bi-Weekly, 3:15 – 4:00 PM Room 503 Club members will be responsible for updating and contributing articles for the website. Time will be spent reviewing, editing, and approving text and artwork for the site. Members will also be responsible for advertising ELM to the student population in order to include more pieces. 7. Go-Green/Environmental Club, Mr. Skea, Thursday 3:00 – 4:00 PM Room 303 The Environmental club works to increase awareness within the Eisenhower Middle School community of the many simple ways that everyone can be greener. This is accomplished by improving access to green resources and increasing awareness of already existing resources. 8. Rock Climbing Club, Mr. Tinter, Once-a-month 3:00 – 4:00 PM This club will meet once a month during the club cycles. Much like a Ski club students will be responsible for contributing to the financial cost of the club. The cost includes a 5 student to 1 instructor ratio provided by the Gravity Vault. Instructors are certified and can run many activities with students as well, such as competitive races, challenges, and creating team climbing events. |
